Isolation tells the story of an unhappy couple, where someone feels held back and manipulated by guilt into staying together. It describes longing to be your own person again, without being dragged down by a someone who uses love or sex as a weapon to get their way. In these situations you would give anything to just be alone, but you feel alone even when that other person is there, stuck on your own little island with this person, unable to distance yourself in any way. We feel this song is relatable to a lot of people, as so many of us have experienced unhealthy relationships like this.
lyrics
You tried to keep me close but it makes me search for more,
you see clear skies, i see the rain about to fall.
And that’s how you hold me down, with the hands across my face,
begging me to stick around, when im alone my mind’s at ease.
sometimes we find ourselves blinded by the spells
you can’t fight the fire between us but i feel myself getting colder
you’re there one that acts this way won’t let me out this endless maze.
And that’s how you hold me down, with the hands across my face,
begging me to stick around, when I’m alone my mind’s at ease.
Just don’t feel right, feeling worthless inside,
I won’t let this pain last forever.
Everyone knows this will end in pain,
Don’t wanna feel this way again.
These broken chains cannot be mended, but you won’t let me end it.
And that’s how you hold me down, with the hands across my face,
begging me to stick around, when I’m alone my mind’s at ease.
And that’s how you hold me down, (me down) with the hands across my face, (my face)
begging me to stick around, when I’m alone my mind’s at ease (my mind’s at ease)
Just don’t feel right, feeling worthless inside,
I won’t let this pain last forever.
(Woah) Forever
